365 Things To Do in Greater Wilmington, NC and the Cape Fear Region

Day 33 Masonboro Island - This pristine barrier island is one of the last undisturbed islands in the area.  It sits south of Wrightsville Beach  and north of C arolina Beach.  Masonboro Island is accessible only by  boat.  The island is about 8 miles long...

Most people access the sandy beaches at the north and south end.   You must carry your trash off and protect our beautiful island.  A walk across the dunes and you see the beautiful crystal blue Atlantic. This is one of the prettiest beaches in the area. There are no facilities on the island and you must bring everything you need.  The perfect place for a picnic or a long walk....you just need to get there on your boat, your friends boat or take a water taxi from Wrightsville Beach.    Check out Masonboro Island on FaceBook at

Hi Dick and Sandy.  I just checked out Masonboro Island on their Facebook page.  It looks like a beautiful place to spend a vacation.

It is such a pristine, natural island....there are no facilities, but day trips out are wonderful.  A lot of people boat out there, anchor and stay overnight on their boats......thank you for your comments and for checking out our area.
